How to Make Your Own Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Autumn (AKA pumpkin spice season) is officially on its way and we're so ready to swap summer and sunshine for cosy jumpers, chunky boots and an obscene amount of comfort food.

Whether you've never tried a pumpkin spiced latte, or you're psyching yourself up for your first one of the season, then you'll love this super simple recipe to try out at home.

Step 1: Make The Spice Mix
A good pumpkin spice calls for ground ginger, ground all spice, ground cloves, ground cinnamon and nutmeg - also known as all the spices at the back of your kitchen cupboard that haven't seen the light of day.
I've made a small batch of the spice mix so I can use it in lattes and baking over the next few months. Grab an airtight container and mix the following together:
3tbsp ground cinnamon
2tsp ground ginger
2tsp nutmeg
1.5 tsp ground cloves
1.5 tsp ground allspice
2tbsp soft brown sugar (optional)
I add the sugar to just add a bit of sweetness, as the spice mix can be quite overpowering, but if you like your PSL strong then you can skip it.

Step 2: Get The Milk Ready

Pour 300ml of milk of your choice into a jug (I've used whole milk, semi skimmed, almond and oat before and they all work great!), and add a quarter tsp/small pinch of the spice mix depending on how strong you want it, and 1tbsp of pumpkin puree. You can either buy this in a tin which can be found at the baking aisles in most supermarkets, or you can make your own by boiling diced pumpkin/butternut squash until tender and use a blender to blitz it into a smooth puree. TOP TIP: Freeze the homemade puree in an ice cube tray so you can pop a cube or two out whenever you need it!
Mix the milk, spice mix and pumpkin well in the jug and heat it up in the microwave in 1 minute blasts until it's piping hot and frothy.

Step 3: Pour And Enjoy!

Find your favourite mug and pour in the hot milk mix. Get some squirty cream and add a generous amount to the top of your latte (obligatory giant spray in the mouth first, of course). Sprinkle on a little nutmeg to finish.

Best enjoyed in front of a Halloween movie in your comfiest pjs with unlimited snacks.
